About Konark Sun Temple

The Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is an architectural marvel and a stunning monument dedicated to the Sun God, Surya. The temple is designed in the shape of a colossal chariot with 24 intricately carved stone wheels, pulled by seven horses. The entire temple is covered with exquisite stone carvings depicting scenes of life, mythology, and divine figures. Although parts of the temple are now in ruins, its sheer scale, grandeur, and artistic brilliance continue to awe visitors from around the world. It is a masterpiece of Kalinga architecture.
