About India Gate and Rajpath

India Gate is a towering 42-meter-high archway and a prominent war memorial located on the Rajpath, the ceremonial avenue in New Delhi. It is dedicated to the soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in World War I. The Amar Jawan Jyoti, an eternal flame, burns beneath the arch to honor the soldiers who died in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The entire area, with its lush green lawns and fountains, is a popular public space for picnics and evening strolls, and it forms the heart of Lutyens' Delhi.
