The Qutub Minar is a magnificent 73-meter-tall minaret, a UNESCO World Heritage site that stands as a symbol of the beginning of Muslim rule in India. Built in the 12th century, this tapering tower is a masterpiece of Indo-Islamic architecture, with intricate carvings and verses from the Quran. The surrounding archaeological complex includes other important monuments, such as the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, the first mosque built in India, and the mysterious Iron Pillar, which has resisted rust for over 1,600 years. The entire complex is a testament to the city's rich medieval history.
