Deoghar is a major Hindu pilgrimage destination, famous for the Baidyanath Temple, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, making it a highly sacred site. The town attracts a massive number of pilgrims, especially during the Shravan Mela festival, when devotees (Kanwariyas) carry holy water from the Ganges to offer at the temple. The town has a powerful spiritual energy, with other important religious sites like the Tapovan caves and the Naulakha Mandir.
