About Namchi

Namchi, meaning 'Sky High' in the local Bhutia language, is the capital of South Sikkim and a fast-developing tourist destination. It is known for its two magnificent pilgrimage centers. The Samdruptse Hill features a giant statue of the Buddhist Guru Padmasambhava, visible from miles away. The Char Dham complex is a replica of the four major Hindu pilgrimage sites in India, along with a large statue of Lord Shiva. Namchi offers panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga range and the surrounding valleys.
