Meghalaya
Holding the Guinness World Record for being the wettest place on Earth, Mawsynram receives an astounding amount of rainfall annually. This village offers a unique experience of life in an extreme climate. The landscape is incredibly lush and green, with numerous waterfalls and fascinating cave systems. The local Khasi people have adapted to the heavy rains by using 'knups,' traditional umbrella-like coverings made of bamboo and leaves. A key attraction is the Mawjymbuin Cave, which has a naturally formed stalagmite in the shape of a Shivalinga.
