Ladakh
Lamayuru is a small village famous for its otherworldly 'moonland' landscape and the ancient Lamayuru Monastery, one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Ladakh. The monastery is perched on a high spur overlooking the village and the valley. The surrounding landscape is characterized by its unique, eroded, yellowish-brown rock formations that resemble the surface of the moon, especially under the moonlight. The village offers a peaceful and spiritual retreat away from the more crowded tourist spots, with stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere.
